The Celebreality Interview – Apple
-
Below, Real Chance of Love 2’s latest cast-off talks about not fitting in with strippers, getting let-down easy by Real and taking to heart the loss of a competition that required her to chase a man wearing a Bigfoot costume. Just another day at VH1, people!
How was your time on the show?
I had a really good time. It was a little short-lived, but it was a learning experience. I feel like I learned a little bit about myself.
What did you learn?
If you compare me to my friends at home, I’m the wildest and the craziest. I’ll do anything. I’m fun and outgoing. I got to [the Real Chance of Love house], and I had fun, but all the girls were just…really out there. Like, inappropriately out there. I felt like I held myself back, because I didn’t want to look like a whack-job, like some of the girls.
Yeah, what stuck out to me is how reserved you were for reality TV.
I was nothing like those girls that part of me didn’t even want to be a part of it. All the girls were either strippers or actresses and models. I just went there as a real person. Like, I’m single. I’ll go there and see if I have a connection with these guys. But the girls made me feel so uncomfortable. I didn’t want to be associated with people like that.
Who was the least appropriate?
Definitely Baker. I mean, everybody was a little inappropriate, but she was over-the-top. She would walk around naked, just constantly craving attention. She’d talk about all this dirty stuff she does at her job, and how crazy it is to be a stripper, and how she goes to the Domincan Republic and Jamaica and does these weird stripper things there. She always had to be the center of attention, but that’s not a good type of attention. I would be eating dinner and she and some other girls would be talking about vaginas and tampons and penis. Just stuff you don’t want to hear when you’re eating.
Did you bond with anyone?
Pocahontas was my roommate, but I really had nothing in common with the other girls. I feel like all the girls were just looking to become stars and get on TV.
Had you watched the first season or any other VH1 reality shows?
I only watched a little bit of the first season [of Real Chance of Love], and a little bit of the others, so I knew what I was getting myself into. I know the loudest and craziest go far, and even though I was in it to win it, I wasn’t going to change who I was to be on TV. I know I ended up looking lame, but I’m not a boring person. I’m just not loud and obnoxious, I guess. I also had quit drinking between the time I tried out and the time the show filmed. On the show, I’d have a glass of wine here and there with the girls, but I didn’t get drunk. When you’re sober, things are different. You’re not going to do things you normally wouldn’t do.
You seemed to withdraw during the video challenge.
I love to dance, but before that, they had said to us in response to the fights and some of the stuff the other girls were doing, “We want you to know that you’re role models to little girls, and you need to act like women.” That really stuck with me. The next day, we’re put on this video shoot, where we’re supposed to shake our asses and shake our s*** and I felt really conflicted. If they hadn’t had that conversation with us, I probably wouldn’t have had a problem.
Is that why you seemed disappointed when Aloha was sent home instead of you?
Well, before that there was the whole thing where Real tried to talk to me. I had already tried to talk to the guys. You don’t see it, but I’d be in mid-sentence and they’d both walk away from me. I understand if you don’t feel like you have a connection with me, that’s fine, but I don’t feel like I was given a chance by either of them. After that and the video shoot, I was like, you know what? You want a person like Aloha or Mamacita. You want a stripper or a crazy person or a model. I knew I was going home that night. If Aloha didn’t eliminate herself by talking back to them, I would have gone. When he called my name, it was like, “Whatever. You don’t even like me.”
You seemed to take losing the yeti challenge to heart.
I really wanted to win a date. Everyone had at that point, except for me, Hot Wings and this other girl. I really tried.
But didn’t it strike you that what you were participating in was utterly ridiculous? The yeti challenge is, by far, the most absurd thing I’ve ever seen on VH1, and I’ve seen a lot of absurd stuff.Yeah. It was fun, though. It was ridiculous and I didn’t really know what a yeti was. But at least it was more physical and there were clues, so I guess you had to use your head. It wasn’t just, “Shake your ass, pull out your boobs and win.” I tried to make the best of it.
You made up for that loss with breakfast.
At that point, I figured whatever, but I just felt such a disconnect from everyone. When I made the breakfast, Real was nice and it was cool, but it was awkward. If you watch the extras, we just look awkward.
What did you think about Real not fitting into his lifestyle?Once he said that, I knew that no matter what I did, even if it was getting naked and jumping on a pole right there, I still wouldn’t fit into his lifestyle. I think he was just letting me down gently. He could have been mean about it like he was with Wiggly.
How do you feel about Real and Chance today?
I have nothing but respect for those guys. They’re doing what they want to do. They’re making money. And if they do a Real Chance of Love 3 and wanted me on it, I probably would do it.
Anything else you wanted to add?
One thing that bothers me about reading message boards and blogs is I’ll see girls on there saying, “Why do they have this weak-ass Asian bitch making Asian bitches look bad? She needs to suck it up and get her man.” I’m sorry, where I come from, acting like a slut doesn’t make you a strong person. Where I come from, sticking up for yourself and being yourself makes you a strong person. And that’s something I’m proud of.
