The dispute was allegedly over the victim’s attempt to save a seat for a friend before the Universal Studios panel, which was taking place in the San Diego Convention Center’s 6,500-seat Hall H.
First word of the incident reached Twitter around 5 p.m. PDT.
According to entertainment journalist Jen Yamato, the man who was arrested for the
stabbing was wearing the “Harry Potter” T-shirt that Warner Bros. had
given away during its panel earlier in the day. He was taken away in
handcuffs, with his white T-shirt covered in blood. The man reportedly stated he was defending himself and that he was “sorry it happened.” The victim, who
was stabbed near the eye, was taken away by medics on a stretcher.Police told Entertainment Weekly that attendees subdued
the attacker, who was then arrested. The victim has been taken to the
hospital, and their status remains unknown. Identities of the people
involved in the incident have not been released. The Universal panel, which has reportedly been pushed back an hour from
its 4:45 p.m. start time, is slated to include first looks at “Paul” and
“Cowboys and Aliens,” and also pushed back the Marvel and Kevin Smith panels. For breaking comic book movie news, columns
