Of all the bands that were born during the mid-90s nu metal era, few would have predicted that Linkin Park would one day be recognized as the genre’s most successful act. While Korn and Limp Bizkit grabbed all of the early headlines, both bands found themselves with rapidly declining followings by the time the early 2000s rolled along. Linkin Park, on the other hand, has managed to stay artistically and commercially viable to this date.

The band is preparing to launch their fourth studio album, A Thousand Suns, on September 14. We’re still a few weeks away from the video debut of the album’s first single, “Catalyst,” but we managed to get our paws on a few stills from the video and wanted to pass them along to you. It’s tough to tell exactly what’s going on here, but based upon the presence of exploding paintballs in a few of these shots, our fingers are crossed that they found creative inspiration from the movie Gotcha!
