Kanye West is used to being controversial by making music and statements that divide even his biggest fans. But when he crashed Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech Sunday night at the VMAs, ‘Ye might have finally come up with the one look almost everyone can agree was bad.

“Huge Kanye fan, but this is a straight-up douche-bag move,” Therman commented on MTV News’ story about the incident. It was one of more than 1,100 comments left that article so far, and Therman minced no words in taking down West. “Can you watch yourself on television and not come to the conclusion that you’re f’ing crazy?! What rational person would do such a thing? I think he seriously needs to get some psych treatment.”

Though no Swift fan, Octopus Pie agreed with Therman’s assessment, saying, “I won’t be buying his [West's] stuff after this. I’ll find someone else to like in his place.”

Another commenter, Matt, called it the “most classless thing I have ever seen,” and said Kanye was disrespectful and just plain “wrong on a human level.”

Bootscootingal114 had a bit of sympathy for West, writing, “Poor Kanye. He acts like such a child. Someone give him a blanket maybe he’ll go to sleep.” But Ronnie went to far as to suggest that West should “never be allowed in the building again,” and Ben though the rapper should be “detained and charged” for the incident.

Though the dissenting opinions were few and far between — including a number who agreed with ‘Ye that Swift didn’t deserve the Best Female Video award over Beyoncé and a handful who suggested the outrage was racially based — one fan named Michael did have “many props for the audacity of Kanye,” arguing that “it ain’t like the show was the Nobel Prize ceremony.”

Even West’s apology later in the night didn’t change the mind of Janeinsane, who wrote, “He wants so much to speak his mind and express himself, but what is the point if you keep on apologizing … for expressing something you are so passionate about? That does not make you look very convincing about your rhetoric. It just makes you look like a fool.”

MindStorm called West a “real jerk” and said that she wasn’t buying the apology. “That posted ‘apology’ was fake, and the only real thing is his clueless cocky way,” she wrote. “Everything is not always about you Kanye!”

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards may have wrapped, but the party is far from over. Stay tuned for behind-the-scenes updates, party reports and much more.
