SAN DIEGO — How can Jeff Bridges get in a room with the
Coen Brothers and not mention “The Big Lebowski”? When the “Tron
Legacy” star came by the MTV / MySpace Watchtower at San Diego
Comic-Con and talk turned to the “True Grit” movie that’s reuniting
him with the “Lebowski” helmers, MTV News couldn’t resist asking the
Dude about the possibility of a sequel to the 1998 cult classic.

“We talked about it occasionally [while making 'True Grit'], but no
plans man, no plans,” Bridges said, to much disappointment around the
room. “No, no, no, I don’t think it’s gonna happen.” But then, with a
sly grin, Bridges reopened the door ever so slightly: “But if it
happens — what a wonderful surprise!”

Bridges’ non-”Lebowski” reunion with Joel and Ethan Coen, “True Grit,”
is in post-production and scheduled for a December release. Bridges
stars opposite Matt Damon, Josh Brolin and Barry Pepper in a remake of
sorts of the 1969 Western that became synonymous with the great John
    Wayne.

“I hope it’s going to be a great Western,” Bridges told MTV News.

“You’ve got the Coen brothers — master filmmakers — doing
a Western for the first time, something they were really excited
about,” he continued. “To be a part of that was great. It’s based on a
great book by the same title, ‘True Grit.’ They are really basing the
movie on the book, as opposed to the John Wayne [film].”

December is going to be a big month for Bridges. “Tron: Legacy,” in
which the Oscar-winner reprises his role from the 1982 classic “Tron,”
is set for release that month as well.
